What do we mean by Policy Data?
Policy data are generated in a wide range of situations, by different entities (governments / other institutions), using varying types of controls (policy options or variables). In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic policy data reflect measures taken to contain the pandemic, such as: closure of venues, travel restrictions, economic support measures etc. Studying such policy data and their effectiveness becomes an important tool in helping analysing patterns of infectious spreading.
About the Policy Explorer Module
OpenCPM incorporates a new module focusing on public released policy data. Policy data currently included are the datasets produced and made public by the Oxford Covid-19 Government Response Tracker (OxCGRT).
The Policy Explorer module of OpenCPM is an interactive, visual web application (dashboard) that builds on open data repositories. The module serves several purposes:
- Makes the raw data easily available online;
- Allows exploration of statistical properties;
- Enables analysis of relations with other data sets
In practice the Policy Explorer module retrieves policy data from outside sources, integrates them in a uniform interface and provides data views, visualizations and, where applicable, modelling functionality.
You can use the "Get Started" link on the right side of the page to get a feel for what is available and the "Policy Data" dropdown menu for a more systematic exploration.
There are several additional releases planned on top of the initially released functionality. Feedback on useful features and suggestions are welcome and will be taken into account in the planning. Check back for updates or subscribe to our mailing list! email@example.com
